Libbey Redux

The ACGA previously has published two Libbey catalogs.  The first was printed in 1988 and the second in 1996.  Now, over twenty years later, we will be publishing Libbey Redux.  For those of you who are not crossword puzzle aficionados, redux means revived.  That title fits the new catalog perfectly.  Dozens of Libbey catalogs, advertisements, and booklets from the Rakow Library of the Corning Museum of Glass and from the library of the Toledo Museum of Art were reviewed, and approximately 250 pages of material previously unpublished by the ACGA were carefully selected for the 2019 catalog.  You will find new patterns, known patterns cut on different shapes, interesting booklets, and a comprehensive index.  The booklets include a beautiful, full-color 1916 catalog of Amberina glass, the 1933 post-Prohibition, full-color booklet "Notes for an Epicure" which includes photos of Libbey-Nash stemware, the c. 1890s Libbey booklet "Facts on Cut Glass," and a booklet of advertisements.  In addition, LindaJo Hare, author and researcher, will contribute a comprehensive chronology of the Libbey firm during the Brilliant Era (1870-1920) which will give readers interesting insights into the company's operations.

Luzerne Cut Glass Company - 2016

Little was previously known about this cut glass firm that was in business in Pittston, PA -  in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Anthracite Coal mining region - from 1911 to 1926.  The company did not publish catalogs, but would loan interested parties a collection of photographs.  The ACGA, in collaboration with the Rakow Research Library of The Corning Museum of Glass, is publishing this year an original set of photographs of Luzerne’s cut glass from the Rakow’s archives.  It is thought to be the only surviving set.

The 106 page catalog contains some 600 items and many newly rediscovered named patterns.  It includes a comprehensive pattern index and a recently researched history of the firm.

Dorflinger Glass

A compendium of four Dorflinger catalogs, including the most complete version of the Dorflinger Salesman’s Catalog and unique wares produced for the Honesdale Decorating Company.  320+ pages with a comprehensive index and featuring a newly researched Introduction by Kurt A. Reed, noted Dorflinger researcher and Curator of the Dorflinger Factory Museum.  It sheds new light on this noted firm, particularly its early years and its operations in White Mills, PA.

Rochester Cut Glass Company

Rochester Cut Glass Company, of Rochester, PA, is one about which little is known about. New research has uncovered its story, c. 1896 to 1922. They specialized in cut glass tumblers and tableware. A history of the firm is written by Kelly A. Conway, Curator of American Glass at the Corning Museum of Class. Over 100 new patterns.
